Battlefield 3 developer – DICE – has announced yesterday that a timed exclusivity deal for Battlefield 3 DLC will be coming for PS3 owners of the game.
Timed exclusive content will start with the game’s “Back to Karkland” DLC – if you have not already bought the Limited Edition version of the game that is, and to be honest, why wouldn’t you!?. Thereafter, all future DLC for the first-person shooter will be available exclusively for one week on PS3 before they land on Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
This move mirrors a similar deal that was arranged between Microsoft and Activision, which saw all timed exclusivityfor its Call of Duty DLC come to Xbox 360 first before appearing later on other platforms, sometimes a month apart.
This deal follows similar partnership events between EA and Sony in titles such as Dead Space 2 and Medal of Honor, which also offered timed exclusive content on Sony’s console.
Which platform will you be playing Battlefield 3 on? Does a week’s wait bother you if you’re going to be playing on Xbox 360 or PC? Do you think timed exclusives are a waste of platform owners money, which could be spent else where? Let us know in the comments below.
