EA Announces UEFA Champions League 2006-2007

EA Sports have announced another title to add to their ever growing list of Football titles. This time, the UEFA Champions League takes centre stage in, would you believe it, UEFA Champions League 2006-2007. But for those of you ready to shout “But it’s just FIFA 07, with the Champions League in it!”, hold on, because the 360 version of the game might just have an ace up it’s sleeve.

Ken Sayler, lead producer for UCL 06-07 on the 360 explains:
“We celebrate the passion football fans have for their club teams by capturing all of the classic rivalries in-game and enabling players to win glory for their club teams in UEFA Champions League 2006-2007. This is the ultimate stage for club football in Europe and we’re giving you the power to build and manage your dream team by creating a unique virtual card system to collect, trade and use players on your way to glory.”

So what does it mean? Well, in the Ultimate Team mode, you’ll be able to pick everything from players to staff, match strategy to stadium. You can go online and trade your cards with other players to help build up the ultimate Champions League side. Each card has a different result when used. For example, the gameplay cards will give your side a boost that could just turn a 2-0 defeat into a 3-2 victory.

Of course, you could just play the game in the traditional way, guiding your side from qualification to the league stages onto the knockouts and finally, the final itself at the Olympic Stadium in Athens. Also included is the chance to replay classic UCL moments using modern teams. These are said to test even the most hardcore gamers.

UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 will be released on March 23, 2007.
