Activision comments on MW2 leak

Activision has being quick to speak out regarding a leaked video of the opening to Modern Warfare 2 which has circulated the internet.

We reported yesterday about the scene which features you playing as a terrorist in an airport.

Speaking to Kotaku, they said:

“Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 features a deep and gripping storyline in which players face off against a terrorist threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse. The game includes a plot involving a mission carried out by a Russian villain who wants to trigger a global war,”

“In order to defeat him, the player infiltrates his inner circle. The scene is designed to evoke the atrocities of terrorism.”

The game was rated 18 by the BBFC and players will be given the option to ‘skip-the-scene’. We’re not quite sure why you would want to mind?

Our own community has burst into vocal arguements over the footage including one comment from ‘COD fan’ who said:

“This is most definitely not “taking it too far”. With games like GTA where half of what people do while playing is whack civilians from roof tops, then this scene should not be an issue.

He continues: “Activision is on top of their game and I along with thousands of others am looking forward to midnight on the 10th to get in on the action. Keep rolling ’em out, we’ll be waiting to buy!”.

We’ll be blogging shortly on the repercussions of the footage and you can comment below on the latest developments.
