500,000 360’s at launch, NOT 50,000

According to our community, who got their information from Team Xbox’s forum – there is expected to be 500,000 Xbox 360 units on UK launch, and not 50,000!  According to local Game stores, there was a major misprint in the shareholders booklet, meaning that there may not be as much of a shortage as we all expected!

The Game rep told “thegame109″ from TeamXbox that when the xbox 360 demo pods were being installed, the Microsoft installer told them about the misprint and that there would very likely be SPARES in local Game stores throughout the UK.  Other members also backed up the story after asking their local Game stores.  Game have also said that if you go down to your local store and put a £20 deposit pre-order down you’re 100% guarenteed a 360 for launch!

If this is indeed the case, it’s possible that the USA and Japan may also be getting more than expected.  Why do we say that?  Well lets be honest, how likely is it that it was a misprint.  This is only speculation, but it could well be a marketing scheme from Microsoft, and to be honest – it’s worked!  The whole world have rushed to get a preorder of the 360 in, meaning more sales of the console for Microsoft.  As well as that, the Xbox 360 “shortage” has been all over the news and media in recent weeks.

Whatever the case, we suggest you pop down to your local Game store on Dec 2nd and ask if they have any spare.
