In an interview with the UK’s Official PlayStation Magazine, Rockstar’s creative vice president Dan Houser has effectively said that the Xbox 360 is limiting Grand Theft Auto IV.
Houser was asked:
“On PS3 you’ve got a guarantee that every machine is going to have a hard-drive and, with Blu-ray, you’ve got plenty of storage, whereas on Xbox 360 there’s no guarantee of a hard-drive and you’re working with the DVD format. Does that create limitations?” To which Houser replied “Yep”.
Houser continued “To be honest with you we haven’t solved all those riddles yet.” That’s not to say the Xbox 360 is worse to develop for, Houser stated that both are a challenge and have great pleasures and pains.
Xbox 360 gamers need not worry about the game looking worse on their console. Houser said that Rockstar are currently demoing the game to the press running on an Xbox 360.
