November: Busiest month of the year
Posted: 3 Nov 2009 08:01

October was probably the busiest month of the year so far, in gaming terms at least. However we have just entered November which promises to be even busier, and that could be because of just one game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

I personally cannot wait for this game to be released, and starting from tonight, I’ll be trying to complete the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare campaign to get back in the right frame of mind.

I have previously completed the campaign but this time I want to do it on veteran not only to acquire more achievements and boost me past the 25,000 mark, but to get ready for the veteran challenge that lies in Modern Warfare 2.

Modern Warfare 2 also has a Spec Ops mode where you can play with friends to complete each map. This adds to the games depth and is sure to put smiles on gamers faces come November 10th.

I’ll update this thread as and when I complete the levels starting with at least 2 missions completed on veteran tonight. Oorah!

My weekend plans...
Posted: 23 Oct 2009 12:53

This week has flown by and already its Friday so here is my weekend plan which includes lots of gaming and hopefully achievement collecting to try and boost my pathetic gamerscore in our Gamerscore Challenge 2009.

Friday

First up is tonight’s schedule. Now at the time of writing this I have not had any invitations to go out for a few drinks so here’s the plan. I’ll get home around 6:00pm and straightaway I am going to jump on Mirrors Edge which I recently just purchased. I’m enjoying the game so far and I hope to complete Chapters 3 and 4 tonight.

After Mirrors Edge, and most likely a feed, I’m going to shoot some hoops in NBA 2K10 in preparation for my review which I’ll start on Sunday. NBA 2K10 also has the Sprite Slam Dunk competition gamemode so I’ll attempt to outdo my brother in a face off battle.

It’s now 9 o’clock and it’s time for some FIFA 10, hopefully with our Console Monster team, Console Monster FC. I’ve posted in our FIFA 10 thread in our forums, so head over there if you aren’t in our team already and join up. That concludes Friday’s timetable.

Saturday

Saturday probably won’t include much gaming as the football team I support are playing (Dunfermline Athletic). I’ll probably go out for a drink as well taking advantage of the extra hour we will all gain when the clocks go back.

Sunday

I’ve got a football match myself on Sunday but hopefully afterwards I will be able to crack on with me NBA 2K10 review, which means more NBA 2K10 gaming *big grins*.

That concludes my weekend’s plans in what looks to be a mixed bag between football and gaming. What are your plans for the weekend? Any games you are looking to play or complete, or anything non-gaming that might be off interest? Let me know by leaving your thoughts below!

What a Month! - September Edition
Posted: 30 Sep 2009 19:07

I know I say this every month, but WOW, that was a quick month. Although I did still manage to spend all my money from previous pay which is probably why the month flew past. So the good ol' saying is true then. Time does fly when you're having fun.

Most of that fun came in the form of Halo 3: ODST. I managed to acquire the game a day early which meant a lot of gloating to the Halo faithful. I also batted a review out for the game scoring it 80%. Read the full review by clicking here. To sum up though Firefight is awesome (see our Firefight guide by clicking here!). Erm, what else did I do?

I played some Trials HD again managing to complete Inferno II in less than 5 minutes. Quite an achievement if you ask me, even though I'm nowhere near the world's best score of under 1 minute 30 odd. I hear they are working on some downloadable content so I can't wait for that to be released, lets hope it's not going to be a rip off.

Asides from that the month has been quite on the gaming front. Popping on the Halo 3 multiplayer here and there while I am most looking forward to October. Reason number 1 being that FIFA 10 releases this Friday, and reason 2 being that it will be October, meaning November is the next month away. What's so special about November I hear you say? Well, not only is it my 21st birthday, the 'going to be amazing' Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is released. Could November actually get any better? I beg to differ!

I leave you with an amazing video which we recently showed you. PS, my copy is pre-ordered!

Monster Month August '09
Posted: 31 Aug 2009 18:41

Wowzer. Another quick month flies in. This month has been extremely busy for me both in the gaming world and in the real, with a mix in between. I've been to the Edinburgh Interactive Games Festival 2009 doing some live coverage for Console Monster. I managed to check out a lot of cool things such as the Mini Ninjas demo early, first look atJust Cause 2 and EyePet, Peter Moore's conference and best of all, interviews with Ian Livingstone andNathan Vella

Asides from that most of my time has been rallied into completing Trials HD. Yes it cost me 1200MS Points but it's probably my most played game on the Xbox LIVE Arcade. I love it. The last level Inferno II is outstandingly hard. One of my best efforts saw me attempt the last part of the course only to run out of time. Thats 30 minutes revving away only to fail the track. But being me I knew I could do it, and currently top all my friends on that particular level, albeit only 2 other people have managed to complete that level.

With Trials HD out the way i've been dipping in and out some FIFA 09, Halo 3 and G.I. Joe with a review pending on the latter. Other than that it's pretty much been football, football and more football. Busy times lie ahead.

Hope you enjoyed August, and if you think you can beat my Trials HD times, leave a comment below stating which track and what time.

Bye for now!

July Monster Month
Posted: 1 Aug 2009 00:20

Wow! July went so fast. That was down to a different number of contributing factors, one of which being that I was on holiday for almost 3 weeks of the month. Did you miss me? Probably not. But I still managed to squeeze in some last minute gaming come this last week.

I've been playing some Halo 3 still trying to conquer the mammoth task of achieving Level 50. If any of you readers out there feel sorry for me, and think you may be up to the task of so called 'boosting' (I like to think of it as helping), then feel free to head over to the forums and give me a nudge (GT: DVX uk). Or leave a comment here. I'll leave the decision up to you!

Asides from Halo I popped Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare into the Xbox. After all the hype Modern Warfare 2 has received I wanted to get back into the swing of things, and by god did it feel good. Seriously, if you haven't played in about 4/5 months go play it now. No wonder i've killed over 17000 enemies, it's awesome. It's still in my disk drive just now and it will most probably still be throughout the month of August.

That's all for a short monster month. See you around the forums!
