Kameo: Elements of Power is one of the flagship games of the Xbox360. Developed by Microsoft Game Studios and Rare, this game promises breath-taking gameplay and awe-inspiring visuals. Kameo has been in development for a long time and it has spanned three different consoles.  It was first in development for the Gamecube, but was then shifted over to the Xbox and it’s finally resting on the Xbox 360. At each stage of its life, new features have been added and refined to create the game that everyone can’t stop talking about.

In the single player mode you play Kameo who is in the middle of a great war started by the twisted and evil war lord Thorn. The main part of the game is to find the age-old elemental warriors who keep balance in the world…find these and the balance can be put right.

From her mother she has inherited the ‘Elements of Power’, and with it the ability to actually morph into the warriors’ physical forms. As Kameo goes on her mission she comes across warriors who she uses the elements of power on, if she fights and wins with them then she can use that warrior in another battle or, and this is the interesting part, use the defeated warriors ability as her own by morphing into them in real time. So if she captures a flying warrior, Kameo would then be able to fly.

Multiplayer mode is catered for as well, both offline and using the Xbox live online system. Offline you can play the game with a friend using the split screen and using Live you can also play split screen with a friend, but also against players from other areas of the world! This will really add to the gameplay as timing and technique is key to fighting on the battlefield.

The battlefield is another big part of the game – a war torn landscape that you’ll become familiar with as you travel across it. The landscape is filled with artificial intelligence fighting for the good of the world and for the destruction of it. Once you have captured some warriors you can use their abilities to help you get across the battlefield, so you can fly over enemies if you are in a rush to find something or if you want, morph into a rock warrior, roll down a hill and play bowling with your enemies!

Your enemies have impressive artificial intelligence and because of this it’s a challenge to fight the bosses of the game. To win against them you need to think what warriors you can use together, so you can freeze a Boss then morph into a Rock warrior to pummel them to pieces. The action is non-stop and frantically good fun!

The focus and ingenuity employed by Rare has shone through this game.  Each shot of the game looks better than the last, every new feature announced wets our appetite more and because it will be on the shelf at the same time as your Xbox360, you can see for yourself how great this game will be.
