Xbox Web Browser Confirmed

Microsoft announced during their E3 2012 presentation that they will be bringing their Internet Explorer web browser to the Xbox 360 later this year.

A slightly unconvincing demo was shown during the presentation, which explained how users will search for images and video from the Internet via the Bing search service, bookmarked favourites can be saved and viewed from the Web Hub.

Using the SmartGlass feature, which will also be releasing at a similar time, users will be able to navigate websites via their touch screen smartphone or tablet by use of an on-screen virtual cursor as well a swipe to navigate up and down webpages.

An onscreen keyboard will allow entry of web address URLs, if voice Bing search isn’t preferred, as-well-as text entry fields in web forms.

Details were thin during the presentation, so it is unknown if there will be any Adobe Flash support, however it is expected.

We’ll have more details for you, should we get any more info. Until then let us know if you think you will use the Web Hub and its Browser in the comments.
