TV Style Adverts Coming Soon To a 360 Near You

TV and video apps over Xbox LIVE will soon find themselves overrun by advertisements of varying length. The 15-30 second ads will be viewed over Xbox LIVE which will no doubt annoy many 360 owners.

"With the growth of Xbox Live, advertisers no longer have to choose between digital and TV advertising - we're offering the impact of TV and the interactivity and addressability of digital in one platform," Microsoft's Ross Honey, general manager of Xbox Live Entertainment, said.

"As more and more industry leaders like ESPN work with us to help monetize their content on Xbox Live, TV media buyers win with the ability to extend their standard TV spots to this highly engaged consumer audience."

What do you guys think of this new move, an inevitability or just another case of Microsoft cashing in?

I am a PS3 owner but this makes no sense. PSN is free and has no adverts, while you have to pay for XBL and now they want ad revenue. This is just another way to get as much money as possible out of XBox.

This is what I hate Xbox raises live price to bring "Live Tv" to Xbox but if you noticed they cancelled it because "it cost too much" like there not making enough money as it is now there going to bring more ads for people who pay while ps3 has everything for free and no ads I would be fine if Xbox had live tv not xfinity and fios and then Xbox had ads

😳ads! I hate *****ing Ads! The dashboard is ad-mad! If they are to go ahead with the move then atleast put the cost of LIVE down! Or who ever pay for the GOLD membership make that ad free and SILVER account ad-mad! 😜

If they are going to make if a free service by allowing ads then I am all for it. Then, for those that are sick of the ads, then you can pay a 'small' once a year fee to be ad free, just like how some of the apps on the app store work.

Stop freaking guys if you read it says the ads are affecting the app not the dashboard, like where ever else you see 4od and that just a short add before you show, won't be an issue and I Xbox won't make much off it, it's for the app owners who advertise in there app to make money after all 4od and others are free so they need to make money somewhere.

#18 clearly you don't use any apps because you get ad after ad after ad. I use one of the music apps which is good for new releases etc, you get an ad pretty mich before each track which is annoying. Its the same ad too its not like they have mixed it up lol. We pay a woping £40 a yr for a service so part of that money should go too the companys of the apps, microsoft already make a ***** load of money.
