Leaderboards to be reset for MW2

The Modern Warfare 2 leaderboards will be reset in the run up to the launch of the game on 10th November.

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling tweeted:

"It definitely looks like a full leaderboard / level reset is in order just before the release date to ensure no unfair advantages".

MW2 has already being plagued by leaked copies filtering into the retail system in countries like France as well as pirated versions on torrent websites.

Some users have already received banning orders from Xbox Live thanks to new technology which can help filter out the pirate players.

Tell us below if you want the leaderboards resetting?

Yeh it's definetly a good thing. Now the best in the world will get their proper credit before hackers change there own scores in about 2 weeks

How do people get away with playing games on Live so far before release?

Weejok: “How do people get away with playing games on Live so far before release? ”

That would be because microsoft have a large amount of Xbox live users, meaning through all of those reports and red flags it takes them a while. And also most people would probably play offline, and only go online to show off to their slight dumb friends.

They will be banned, most likely on the launch date. If not it sends a huge message to the pirate community that they can get away with this on any game, let alone the biggest game of the decade.

Hmm. Good idea but I often get games the day before release, not through any fault of my own , I pay legally , it just gets sent out quickly I suppose . So don't think they should do it on midnight of release . mayb a day or two before would be better ?

Thats not a problem this time round, the copy thats out there is a botch job, you have to patch it a few times to get it to work, it will flag anyone using it instantly.

They shouldn't reset; I'm almost 3rd Prestige in MW2! Just because f*gs b**ching about not getting it early like us, shouldn't reset our stats!

my copy of MW2 got posted to me last night using Express delivery so i should have it today or tomorrow, so i better not be banned for playing it early.

But yes the leaderboards should be reset for people who haven't been fortunate enough to get the game before launch.

Yeah I agree that leaderboard should be resetted to get everyone a fair chance to show their true skills on it & dang those hackers...moreover, people who have been playing the game long before it's release date they should also reset their ranks & class layout cuz u don't want to play against someone who has everything unlocked...and for the peeps who got their xbox live account banned honestly I feel that was the right action to be taken and they deserve that...I heard about this pirate acts on ign.com that people who are engaged in it will get their account banned...So I guess they thought xbox was just bluffing...ha who's laughing now?
