Play as a terrorist in Modern Warfare 2
Written by Rob Rymond
Content Monster

Activision could be the centre of headlines from the 10th November, after leaked footage online, shows a massacre of civilians in an airport.

Said video was promptly removed from Youtube, but a copy has surfaced on LiveLeak.

The footage is taken from the 4th level in the first act of the game. It shows a player in an airport with four other men who are dressed in suits, carrying machine guns.

It then shows the men firing the guns in the airport whilst civilians panic and scream. This is when you join in and start shooting down those who are trying to escape.

Although the airport level was shown in a trailer, there was no indication it would involve you 'being' on the terrorists side.

It isn't the first time that developer Inifinity Ward has tacked on some controversial elements to the game, with the original game tackling subjects head-on.

Do you think they have gone a bit far this time? Or should we just remember it is a videogame? Tell us below.

Video games are the only means of becoming someone that you cannot be in the real world. If u want to kill innocent people or drive a car at 200mph into a wall for a bit of harmless fun then you can. No death or heavy prison sentences involved!

I think it's not that bad... I saw the footage on the Internet and it looks pretty cool... At the end of the level, to make it all worse... Makarov kills you, or at least shoots u in the face... Then again, JUST A VIDEO GAME!!!

Yeah, a videogame rating like any movie rating is supposed to keep unsuitable audiences away from playing or seeing whatever it is... I think it's just ridiculous to limit the story according to whatever is happening in the real world... Whenever I think about games going too far, I think of the Grand Theft Auto series... I mean, CoD is a war game... Of course there is killing in war... But the GTA series has people running around killing cops, dealing drugs, and banging prostitutes... Now, ask yourself, 'who is going too far?'

As all of these have said, a game is a game. Games get bad media, and any sort of gamer the media asks are always dumb fools, who stay things like "yea, i mean it stops me doing my school work, but then again i get fun out of shotting people, without actually doing it"

But i mean Infinity ward, are well known, they would of thought this over before putting it into a game, incase they got the bad media themselves, CoD is based off of reality, well supposedly, but the reality of it is, we see the enemy die but not our own people, so Infinity Ward have put the reality up a nocth by doing just that, showing the story of both sides, they sort of did that in CoD4 showing the reasons for the fight back.

War is glorified to much, and IW might have seen this, and put a bit of the other side into the story. Who knows why they did it. It is acceptable though, its up to the parents of those crazy teenagers, the ones that take it from game to real world, to not buy it for them if their worried.

GTA was invented by the british as a way to laugh at the media, showing what really was unnaceeptable and it still is, but if it were too bad it wouldnt be allowed. GTA4 has come far away from the truth, of gta 3 and such, when those sort of things were going on. GTA4 is just ridiculous.

Thanks,

It's just as bad as gta and gta isn't bad

It's good to play diffrent characters in games no matter what there fighting for it makes the story good with twist and shocking moments all that good stuff. I bet if you played as a Nazi in the story of world at war no one would give ***** but since mw2 takes place at this with war going on people are bitching and also when they showed DC burning.

Great comment ShoBiz.

Chrissy, things have improved a lot since "years ago", but it's all just personal taste.

Wth?! Killing people in video games? And someone has a problem with it?! lol
#18 CoD Fanboy  Console Guide 05:39 29 Oct 2009 GMT
First of all, yes I'm a Call of Duty Fanboy but don't let that deceive your judgment because I do know right from wrong. So with that being said...

Honestly speaking I don't think Infinity Ward is taking things to far. If you really look at the world that we live in today, things similar to what is being shown in this game is actually taking place around us. TV shows, movies and so on show us the same thing this game or any other games are putting out there and majority of the time a red flag is never raised up on things like that why because it is just a movie. So it is just a game and people shouldn't waste their time on something that's less insignificant...they are other things in the world that's more important than a video game and those are the things we need to focus more on period...I'm out peace.

This is most definitely not "taking it too far". With games like GTA where half of what people do while playing is whack civilians from roof tops this scene should not be an issue. Activision is on top of their game and I along with thousands of others am looking forward to midnight on the 10th to get in on the action. Keep rolling 'em out, we'll be waiting to buy!!

I just want to be able to punch a terrorist who's on fire, just like that guy in the Scottish airport.
#23 Confused much?  Console Guide 19:09 29 Oct 2009 GMT
Yea there are worst things going on in the world than worring about being a terrorist in a video game
#24 Andy911  Console Guide 03:49 30 Oct 2009 GMT
This game is so hot I give it a 10 out of 10
#25 MayContainNutz  Console Guide 00:55 31 Oct 2009 GMT
I agree with Zombie Kipper

U rule Zombie Kipper!!!!
#26 Dom  Console Guide 15:28 01 Nov 2009 GMT
It's just a game. The more killing the better so when I'm driving on a Sunday I don't want to kill as bad in real life. Seriously I think they should give out 360's in prison.
#27 XxUNREALxX  Console Guide 14:33 02 Nov 2009 GMT
Always looking for something new and different and mw2 looks like it's going to do that.
