Gotta catch 'em all - FIFA 09 card system expands

Shared by David W on 12 Feb 2009 8:25 am GMT

EA Sports have revealed a brand new game mode for FIFA 09. We've all been booked or possibly even been given the red card, but I bet you've never been given the Carlos Tevez card. The new game mode will work similarly to one seen in UEFA Champions League 2007/2008 in which players collect cards containing footballers to which they can form teams from. Just think of it like Pokémon cards but with Ronaldinho instead of Charizard and Wayne Rooney instead of Snorlax. Players will be able to collect; trade and play with anyone in the world and over 4,000 football stars will be available for your dream team.

The cards will come in three categories: Bronze, Silver and Gold and can be bought using your virtual money or obtained from using Microsoft Points from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Virtual money can be earned by winning matches against opponents. This money can also be used in trades and auctions for players.

The new game mode will be downloadable from 19th March 2009.
