2009 to be a 'dry' year for gaming?

Top industry executives have claimed that 2009 may be a 'dry' year for gaming. Several of them spoke to the BBC about the year ahead for games.

The boss of Lionhead, Peter Molyneux has said: "It's all looking a bit dry,"

"All the triple-A titles came out this Christmas and while there is stuff in 2010 we can look forward to, off the top of my head I cannot think of anything next year that really excites me."

He may actually have a point as well. While the big releases will be showcased at E3 2009 with some out by next Christmas, the early part of the year does look a little stale. Last year hype was built up with the release of GTA IV and no such title will capture gamers this year apart from possibly Resident Evil 5.

Molyneux wasn't the only one complaining though, Will Wright who created hit PC games The Sims and Spore has said we'll be seeing 'connected games' this year. He says there will be an emphasis on "social networking rather than just multiplayer", similar to what we have seen with LittleBigPlanet.

So do you feel 2009 will triumph over 2008 or are we due for a quiet year in games? Tell us below.

I think that they are deluding themselves if they think we are only getting dross this year. 2 new Halo games, Call of Duty 5, Killzone 2, Race Driver, GT5, etc.

Should be something for everyone.
