Bungie plan new Halo game

Bungie have been expressing their disappointment after Microsoft decided to 'can' an announcement regarding a new Halo game at the last minute.

A countdown on the Bungie website was highly tipped to be a countdown to the game announcement which was supposed to happen at the Microsoft Press Conference.

However at the last minute Microsoft decided to shake things up and remove the announcement from the show. The Xbox 360 boss, Don Mattrick confirmed things changed in an interview with MTV Multiplayer.

He said that Bungie are making a new Halo game, one which won't be Halo Wars or the Peter Jackson title. He went on to state that it was held back from the conference because the briefing was already "loaded" with content

Announcements are still to be planned for both the new Halo game and Halo Wars at a later date and we think that Leipzig could be the place for that when the Games Convention hits town in September.

You can read a roundup of what happened at the conference here.

No, bungie have stated that it's the publisher who changed things.
And i doubt they'll be wanting to go with Microsoft Game Studios ever again.
Bummer though, but i suppose the waits gonna be worth it.
Maybe this was all publicity though? who knows.

Weird - Frankie left Bungie to work at Microsoft on Halo. If Bungie are still working on Halo, why would Frankie leave?

I kinda hope they aren't really. Or if they are to not make it related to the trilogy's story arc. Acompletely new gameplay style coupled with a new storyline from somewhere else in the halo universe would be perfect.

Well as far as I can see they're almost getting as much publicity for NOT saying anything during E3 (where any announcement is competing with other developer's showcasing their wares).. and then next week, when everything has died down they get to make more headlines by actually making their announcement. Pretty smart, really. You gotta bet on next week, post-E3 being quite a slow games news week.. a much better time to guarantee you get all the limelight,

Hrm but Bungie arn't partners with microsoft anymore so whos the new publisher?.

I dont see why bungie would be revealing a new halo game so quickly, Halo3 hasn't ven been out a year. Its not like them :S

I reckon the announcment will be at Leipzig now. Unless this is all a PR stunt!
