OXM Reveal Call of Duty: World at War Details

New details for upcoming shooter Call of Duty: World at War, the fifth title in the series, have been unveiled in the latest edition of the Official UK XBOX 360 Magazine. The sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will return to World War II as previously hinted at and will be developed by Treyarch (who previously developed Call of Duty 3).

Head of Treyarch, Mark Lamir has said: “This is a scarier Call of Duty than we’ve ever seen. The direction for the team was to make the best game they could, and as they were doing this they created a grittiness that quite frankly made some people very uncomfortable.” Further on within the article, Lamir also says: “We’ve been making these games for a long time now, but the team is going to settle for nothing less than creating the best work of our lives.”

Call of Duty: World at War, will cover the Pacific conflict and for the first time in a Call of Duty title, will allow players to swim. Details of players were also announced. Offline, players can play by themselves or with a partner. For the first time, players can play online Co-op with up to 4 players and online Multiplayer will support up to 16 players.

You can read the full article in the Official UK XBOX 360 Magazine dated July 2008 which is available in shops from Friday 13th June priced at £5.99 and subscribers will receive their copy earlier in the week.
