Codemasters have snapped up the rights to the official Formula 1 licence and will be releasing the games across multi-platform formats for the first time.

MCV revealed the news earlier, that the previously PlayStation-only franchise will now be the 'jewel in the crown' for Codemasters. The deal will allow them to feature the Grand Prix circuits, teams, cars and driver likenesses. An official F1 title has been absent for two years but will return in 2009 across the consoles.

I have just downloaded and tried the new GRID demo from codemasters, judging by the quality of it, i'm not optimistic about their F1 effort. They will have to improve 20 fold.
