Rockstar Games has unleashed a beast upon the gaming world this Tuesday the 29th of April. Aside from staggering sales numbers and giddy gamers, the release of GTA IV was not without its issues. Completely ignoring the midnight stabbing at one of the British launch sites (no, seriously). That incident aside, the game has been greeted with an onslaught of high scores from critics; plenty of which were perfect.
Strangely enough, even perfection is not without its flaws. PS3 owners have found themselves plagued with a lack of online functionality. While the problem is not happening to every PS3-ite, message boards all across the net have lit up with posts where players have claimed that the online portion of GTA IV on the PS3 simply does not work. Playstation’s tech support suggests that deleting and reinstalling the game will help… in most cases it does not.
Some sites have claimed that the problem is most common in 60GB PS3s; yet multiplayer functionality has shown issues on each platform supporting the software (including the 360).
Rockstar Games has declined to comment anywhere. The company’s website for GTA IV mentions nothing either. The silence of the Rockstar and the inability of Sony to rectify the solution through tech support has many fans angry. More stabbings may soon follow.
UPDATE: Some sites are reporting that Rockstar has claimed that the issue has been resolved. Anyone here having/still having problems?
