Tony Hawks to be ‘reinvented’

Aside from announcing Call of Duty 5, Mike Griffith the CEO of Activision also promised that the new Tony Hawk’s will be a reinvention of the series.

He stated that a new technology was being used to create a DS skating game which has not yet been seen on a handheld. That’ll be out later this year.

The console title will be due sometime after April 2009, but could land as late as 2010 as they promise a two year development plan “to deliver the kind of breakthrough that the franchise needs”.

Griffith went on to say: “For competitive reasons we’re not going to talk about it today, but we’re very bullish on the kind of innovation this will bring. This won’t be your father’s Tony Hawk”.

Presumbly everything is hush-hush to avoid the secret moles at EA stealing any ideas for a new version of Skate.
