Super Quiet DVD drive coming to an Xbox 360

“Super Quiet” DVD drive coming to an Xbox 360

One of the many quirks of the Xbox 360 – the noisy DVD drive will be seeing its demise with the replacement of a new ‘super quiet’ DVD drive.

The guys over at Xbox Scene bring us this news of the quieter drive which will be used in the pre Xmas’06 production run of Xbox 360. That said, not all production runs will feature the new BenQ VAD6038 drive. Microsoft will continue to pop in its whirring older brothers, the Toshiba-Samsung and Hitachi-LG drives, so it will be a lucky dip as to whether new Xbox 360 owners will receive a whisper quiet unit.

When, will my, will my hand be famous!

It is also worth noting that users of this drive have also reported a speed increases in loading times as well as overall smoother performance from the BenQ piece of kit, something we could all do with don’t you agree?
