Super Mario Galaxy Japanese Sales

Super Mario Galaxy has now been out for over a week in the land of the rising sun, and early sales figures from gaming publication Famitsu indicate that the game has not performed as well as some may have been expecting.

Although the game did debut at the number one sales slot, it managed to sell just over 250,000, and where as this may sound impressive rumours indicate that Japanese retailers pre-ordered over 700,000 copies of the latest instalment in the Mario series, therefore leaving a lot of unexplored Galaxies on shelves.

Will things pick up? Who knows, but Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii hits European stores next Friday so be sure to preorder it now!
