Stranglehold Advert Banned

The ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) has banned Midway’s John Woo Presents Stranglehold’s television advert from appearing on television. The advert which has the voiceover: “Honour is his code. Vengeance is his mission. Violence is his only option,” was banned for being too violent and the ad was considered “likely to be seen as encouraging and condoning violence.”

The edited footage, made by Picture Production Company, apparently contained only bullets fired into mid-air and not at any-one and it was believed that the footage was animated game play and not real-life violence.
