Sony announces 80GB PS3 for $399

At their press conference at E3 earlier today, Sony announced that they will be reducing the price of their 80GB PS33 to $399.99 starting this coming September. Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony, said that the cheaper 80GB system would still contain the “the current functionality of the 40GB PS3.” Whether or not the cheaper 80GB console will miss out on some of the features that appeared in 80GB consoles but not in 40GB consoles is yet to be confirmed or denied. we’ll have more information as we get it.
