Skate 2 Staff Slashed As Game Releases

With Skate 2 releasing today in the PAL regions, today should have been a day of celebration for creators, EA Black Box. Instead of cake and music, however, over 200 members of the team were met with the axe. The cause, presumably, is the current economic situation which is seeing similar events occurring accross the game industry.

Black Box sheds over 200 team members.

With the affected staff called into a meeting, the remaining staff were told to go home and later received word, via email, that many of their colleagues had been layed off. Personally, I don’t like the choice of day by EA, and I think it will have left many of the companies (now former) employees with a sour taste.

Please comment with any thoughts.
