After it’s recent, albeit small, appearance at E3, Resident Evil 5 is back on the horizon. The game’s Producer Jun Takeuchi has revealed some fresh details of the game to Famitsu.
First up, the lead character is, as long suspected, Chris Redfield who first appeared in the original Resident Evil and was last seen in Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Chris is sent to the African village seen in the E3 trailer to investigate some mysterious goings on. Alongside Chris will be a female character from the series past who fans will instantly recognise. Start speculating…now!
The majority of the game will be played with the over-the-shoulder view that was first used in the fantastic Resident Evil 4. Takeuchi says the game will feature a surprise that he feels is the logical evolution in the series.
High dynamic range lighting will play a big part in the game. When stepping out from a dark area to a light area, it will take a moment or two for your eyes to adjust. Capcom want to play on this by presenting plenty of jumpy moments while your eyes are still adjusting.
Resident Evil 5 is expected to be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 sometime in 2008. The extended trailer will be shown for the first time when it’s released on the Xbox Live Marketplace on July 26th.
