MS Point ‘Gifting’ Plan Canned

Published On February 11, 2009 | By Lauren Wainwright | News

A while back, Microsoft launched the beta for gifting Microsoft Points to your friends. The service was launched for US accounts only and required you to know the Windows Passport ID of the user you wanted to gift to rather than their Gamertag, which is probably why the service never really kicked off.

They were going to work on a system of giving just by knowing the recipientsgamertag but somewhere along the line, they just canned the whole system.

Seems a shame as I was planning to use the service in the future as an easy way to celebrate birthdays and such without having to leave the comfort of my home to buy them something, how inconsiderate Microsoft!
