Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Dated

This upcoming action-RPG from Monolith Productions sets itself up bridging the gap between the events of Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is set to drop on October 7th 2014 and will have players assuming the role of Talion, a slain ranger returned to life with a vengeful intent and a touch of the wraith about him.

The October 7th release date appears to be for the game’s US release, so assume UK release to be around but not definitely on the same date.

There’s to be a focus on newer-gen systems, though the game shall be making an appearance on 360 and PS3 aswell. The extent to which the features will be reduced is yet to be fully clarified.

Brown hair and blue eyes is always a strong look, though perhaps Talion ought to have visited the Smithy…

Also freshly revealed is the box art above and details concerning the title’s pre-order bonuses, including the ‘Dark Ranger’ bonus pack comprising a ‘Test of Power’ challenge mode, character skins and leaderboard access.

A trailer establishing the plot has been released today, showing exactly why Talion is on his mission to exact vengeance:

All looking rather cheery – a jaunt through Middle Earth is always welcomed by us here at ConsoleMonster. Let’s hope Talion gets to a blacksmith’s before October, that sword is in a pitiful state.
