Earlier this morning (12/05/08), rumors surfaced about a device codenamed ‘Lips’ that Microsoft would be debuting for the first time tomorrow. Amidst all of the speculation, a member of 8BitJoystick.com claims to be able to confirm the rumors: “I can confirm the existence of a new Xbox accessory codenamed : Lips…I really don’t know too much about what it is going to be. I suspect that it is going to be a voice communication device and possible voice recognition in games.”
Oh boy.
Other rumors may be finally getting a little closure tomorrow as well… It seems that this fellow from 8BitJoystick.com also claims that the news about the Microsoft input device is a lot like the WiiMote. He calls it the ‘Newton.’
A bunch of Banjo-Kazooie 3 screens have leaked as well (above…pretty, right?), some showing off a large vehicular presence in the upcoming title. In an effort to quell the rumors, Rare had this to say to Kotaku.com:
“Reading some of the comments, it’s nice to see that people think the game is quite pretty, but its definitely not a racer, which is what some people think it is…You’re better off waiting until tomorrow, when we reveal what is for us the most spectacular feature of the game, which is the gameplay mechanic.”
Could this gameplay mechanic be the fabled Newton controller? Time will tell…
