Master Chief Finds a New Home – UPDATED

Earlier today I reported that Halo 2 would be shipped with the Xbox 360 hard drive. Since then I have received many emails and questions regarding where I found the information. This raised some suspicion on my part. Usually all Xbox sites post the same news, so it’s a race to see who can provide the news first and fastest. When I saw this news article on a website featured on NewsNow.co.uk, I figured that I would try to be one of the first to post it up for all of you to read.

Twelve hours later, and there was still no stone hard proof that this was actually true, so I decided to dig into the cold facts. I called up the Xbox Public Release department and I asked them if it was true; “Will Halo 2 actually come preinstalled on the Xbox 360 hard drive?” The lady I spoke to laughed and stated that this was an ongoing rumor and it was not true.

So, I sit here now proven wrong. However…

I decided to ask about the enhanced versions of Halo 1 and Halo 2. This time she told me that she could not comment on my question.

Will the hard drive come with Halo 2 preinstalled? Nope. Will Halo 1 and Halo 2 be re-released with better graphics and frame rate and such? It’s possible.

The Halo Trilogy has taken a breather long enough, and now is the time for Master Chief to arise once again. As we stated beforehand, Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 is rumored to be graphically enhanced for the Xbox 360. Now this has been confirmed by Bungie, along with the prolonged rumor that Halo 2 will come installed with the Xbox 360 hard drive.

You read this right, Microsoft stated that Halo 2 will be included with the hard drive that is incorporated with the Xbox 360 Premium Package and sold as an optional accessory. Piecing the two together, we believe that the preinstalled version of Halo 2 will be the enhanced edition.

What does all of this information mean to you? Well, if your planning to get the Premium Package, you will also be getting Halo 2 (most likely the enhanced Halo 2).
