Upcoming XBOX Live title Ikaruga has today been released on partnerNet (an “insiders” version of XBOX Live) at 49MB. This basically means we can expect to see Ikaruga very soon on the real XBOX Live Arcade.

Screenshots from the debugged version of Ikaruga have been posted on the Shmups Forum. These show that the game will support a 16:9 and 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio. There’s also leaderboards and the ability to save replays.

If you haven’t heard of Ikaruga before, it’s a fast-paced up-scrolling shooter where you can flip your ship to make it black or white. If your ship is white, you’re immune to white bullets and vice versa. Stay tuned to Console Monster for more information on Ikaruga.
