Halo 3 Beta - Why so short?

Halo 3 Beta – Why so short?

Published On April 23, 2007 | By Russ Clow | News

In this weeks rather short Bungie update, Frankie speaks to the gaming world with regards to the Halo 3 Beta’s length.

We also had a few comments after the news that the Beta would be just three weeks long, and let’s just say that the comments weren’t all that favourable!

Frankie did explain, though, that the main reason for the short beta is to ensure that it doesn’t get in the way of Halo 3’s development too much. Obviously, when you’re developing a game, and releasing a Beta of it to the public, it will take up a fair bit more resources.

Frankie also explains as to why there are only three maps, saying: “It’s easier to think of why you’re not getting the rest of the maps. They’re not done yet. All are geometry complete, but they’re being polished and tuned for graphics and gameplay ‘til the last minute. You could say that the maps you’re playing are the best balanced and most complete so far.”

Frankie also tells us that the day before the Beta launch, we’ll be seeing a huge FAQ page on Bungies site, which will answer some of our most pressing questions. It will also talk us through the controls, explain the new features and let us know what we’ll be playing.
