Halo 3 Beta Date Confirmed

Microsoft have just announced the date of the Halo 3 Beta. We’re all eagerly waiting to play one of the most anticipated games on the Xbox 360, and at long last, we know when we’ll be able to!

The dates confirmed for the Beta are:

May 16th at 5am PDT (1pmUK Time)Until June 6th at 11:59pm PDT (June7th, 7:59am UK Time)

The beta will consist of 3 maps, Valhalla, High Ground and Snowbound, all with graphical improvements since the first MP screenshots were released. All three will be playable in matchmaking only, and all support numerous game-modes for you to try out.

Bungie asked us to remind you that the game we’ll be playing in a month is BETA standard, and so although it’s close to the final version, it will still have a few rough edges here and there.

Frankie, from Bungie, tells us more: “There are a number of new features you’ll get to test out – including a new grenade type, a completely different class of weapon and some of the enhanced online functionality we plan to bring to the game – but it should be noted, a lot of secret features are hidden in this Beta. We’re keeping a lot of our powder dry for Fall. In May, when your firing the Spiker, sniping vehicles with the Spartan Laser and sticking fools with the Brute Spike grenade, remember that it’s just a peek-a-boo fraction of what’s to come.”

Hehas also asked you all to walk down the beach, the river or the lake on the High Ground or Valhalla maps and look at the water.

If you want to top up your Halo 3 cravings, head over to bungie.net, who have a behind the scenes video feature, showing off the Multiplayer aspect of the game, and some of the featuress you’ll be able to play in May!. Alternatively, head on over to Xbox LIVE for a HD version of the video. All the in-game footage in the video is taken during the Alpha stage, so expect it to look a bit better than that!

Roll on May!
