Grand Theft Auto IV, the latest in the Grand Theft Auto series, is set to break sales records with it’s release on April 29th. According to industry specialists, GTA IV is to break previous sales records made by the launch of Halo 3, which generated $300 million (£152 069 940.15 approximately) in it’s first week of sales. Industry specialists predict the game will generate over $400 million in its first week.

A source close to Take Two, the producers of the game, said, ‘Though they rarely release the data, videogame publishers are able to accurately predict early game sales based on what retailers order.’

Many retailers and and financial groups are disputing over how many copies will ship and be sold, but they all tend to agree that the launch will possibly break launch sale records.

What do you think of the huge sum of money to be generated? Will you be buying a copy to help the game break records? Leave a comment below
