E3 2007 Microsoft Keynote Conference

E3 2007 Microsoft Keynote Conference

Published On July 11, 2007 | By Chris Taylor | News

In the small hours of this morning, a company known as Microsoft unveiled a blinding amount of new stuff. From a new controller, to a new Halo 3 trailer, to Rock band. E3 this year has been scaled down quite a bit, but this didn’t stop Microsoft pulling some rabbits from it’s magnificent hat. One point made clear during the conference was that every game featrued would be out this year. Thats right! 2007!

Peter Moore set the show going with a live demo of Rock Band. The developers from Harmonix performed vocals, drums and lead guitar whereas Peter Moore took bass. Peter humiliated himself on more than one occasion by accidentally pressing the pause button, not once, but twice.

After a quick look at a mini game driven game, absed around the world of Viva Pinata called Vivba Pinata Party Animals, Mass Effect graced the screen. The trailer shown gave a much bigger insigth into the story and, as well as that, a release date was announced for November.

Moore then went on to talk about sales figures and the games that will drive the consoles sales up, such as Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3. After this we were introduced to Scene It!, a new addition to the collection of 360 casual games. Included in this was a new controller, which looked alot like the controller from the Buzz quiz series. The great thing was, though, that Scene It! would come bundled with 4 controllers for the price of a normal 360 game.

Project Gotham Racing 4 was next on stage, with a look at the motorbikes, a new addition to the game. The game showcased some incredible weather effects as well as the ability to share screenshots and replays with other PGR4 players over Live.

Next was Call of Duty 4, Infinity Wards next outing. Instead of being set in the the old wars, this title is set in the present as told in its name, Modern Combat. The game currently looks stunning and is set to rival Haze and Crysis, two games which stick out graphically as being gorgeous. Some great news announced was a Beta will be coming to Live soon.

GTA IV was next, but unfortunately nothing new was brought to the table. Highly disappointing.

Peter Moore’s promise was broken with the next game, Resident Evil 5, as there is no way this is coming out in 2007. Yes, thats right. Sony has yet again lost another important franchise. The trailer showed it to be similar to RE4, but set in Africa. A demo of the game has been set for July 26th.

Assassin’s Creed is a game that is coming along well. Since X06, the game has had a bit of a polish and looks alot more fluid. The good news is, it’s set for a November release.

Lastly we have the ever present Halo news. To start off with, we were shown a live action movie which showed the weapons being made, Warthogs and Pelicans being produced as well as armour. We were also introduced to the Halo 3 console, a specially designed version of the Xbox 360. To close, we were treated with a Halo 3 trailer of the campaign mode. Many explosions, lots of bodies and warnings of apocalypses. Yep, the usual Halo stuff. One to definitely look forward to.

For those who missed the conference live, we have the entire conference on the front page of the website. So head on over and have a look. We will shortly be adding the conferences for Nintendo and Sony soon.
