Codemasters announced that their latest games, Colin McRae DiRT, has shifted more than 500,000 copies in just it’s first week on sale. They also revealed that the demo available for PC and Xbox 360 have been downloaded over 500,000 times around the world.

Rod Cousens, CEO of Codemasters had this to say, “This success with DiRT is a text-book case of our product development, marketing and distribution efforts all working together to ignite consumer interest and drive sales. Nearly half of our first week’s sales are from the U.S. alone, which means momentum behind this series is taking hold in new territories.”

According to VG Charts, the sales success of DiRT has launched it into the Top 5 selling games in America, being the only 360 currently in the Top 5, and also put it in the Top 5 games of the week around the world.
