Destiny Beta Now Open To All With Reward For Those Who Play Saturday

With Playstation 4 gamers having had access since last week, Xbox fans might be sporting a few screwfaces after having to wait a little longer to get their teeth sunk into the Destiny Beta than their Sony counterparts, only getting their chance to dive in on Wednesday.

Well now Bungie is widening the net further, scrapping the need for Beta codes and opening up the experience for everyone – this will also give players a chance to test out the game on other consoles they might have. This is presumably indicative of dev-side confidence in their game’s servers after the closed-Beta and shows that Bungie are trying to swell the ranks for their scale-testing on Saturday night.

A message delivered in-Beta promises an in-game reward, once the full version arrives in September, for those who play Saturday night at 2PM PDT / 9PM GMT:

“Help us scale test our Beta and get a reward when the full retail version of Destiny ships.

To earn your reward, play the Destiny Beta on Saturday 26th July at 2PM PDT (9PM GMT).

Love, Bungie”

Count me in then, I suppose – I still need to have a run through with a Hunter!

Bungie later confirmed the reward to be an in-game emblem.

The scale and overwhelmingly positive press and public reactions to Destiny should prove this opening up of the Beta to be a bit of a moneyspinner; let’s just wait until those first sales figures come in.
