I think you can change it but I don't know how though.

My friend knows...and did it. If i recall you have to look for downgrading software somewhere on the internet (I don't know...I don't own the PSP) to get your PSP down to 1.5. HOWEVER, be very careful when you do downgrade and/or upgrade using homebrew software. One of my friend's brother's friends downgraded his PSP to v1.5, then got GTA: LCS (which requires v2.0+) and used homebrew to upgrade back to v2.0...totally screwed up his PSP! He can't use it anymore because its ****ed and he can't return it to Sony for repairs because he voided the warranty by using homebrew mods. My suggestion: Don't bother with downgrading, there's a very high chance of screwing up your PSP beyond repair and losing all that cash you used to pay for it... (Get a PC instead )

Try joining a psp forum like this one.

They will most likely know where to get it done.

Well...my friend managed to re-update his PSP from a homebew downgrade to v2.0+ so that he could play GTA: LCS. We're pretty happy his PSP didn't get bricked, but now he's concerned that if he downgrades again it'll brick...The free games just arent worth a bricked PSP..
