The reason no cba to call it PlayStation is because it's hassle, I ain't hitting the damn caps key either or holding the shift key just to type that, screw Sony, they've once again shown how arrogant they are, why don't they just call it flopstation and get it over with.

Its PS3 in my house. The PS2 is known as the dust collector as well.

It's one of them. Unlike PS2, which as the article reveals, wasn't trademarked.

I don't think PS3 is trademarked yet for the site PS3.net still stands and is currently running not under Sony. If it was copyrighted I'm pretty sure the site would be disowned and the domain tooken away by Sony. I have a good feeling the site only gets hits from random people typing in PS3 domains, taking advantage of the Sony brand. I'm not sure if they would be happy about that.

Because Sony owns the font and I guessed they thought it would look sharp for their console. I actually like the font, think its better than the super bland Xbox 360 font though.

I don't think 360 font is bland I think it's rather sleek.

Its not as a graphically enhanced as the Xbox logo was. But than again, the Xbox 360 went for a more contemporary look, instead of the Xbox's juiced up one. I'd prefer the Xbox 360 logo over the Xbox one anyday.

I think Sony took the idea from 360MONSTER.COM!!!!

Disowned and taken away? I don't think that's how it works. First come, first serve. Remember that guy who made bank when Exxon Mobil merged? He registered it on a lark a while before the deal was announced, and sold it back to 'em for a nice easy chunk of change.

In order to forcibly take it back, at the very least, Sony would have to prove the owner of the site is using it in a way that infringes on their business, like selling PS3 brand Pogs. Of course, they could simply continually and constantly sue the owner, since they can afford one small team of lawyers for three years no problem, and he can't. However, I doubt they'd go after a fansite if they get to still have ps3.com to themselves. Besides which, they'd probably offer him a measly 30 grand before spending 200k on that law team's retainer, and he'd smile happily and register ps3xtremefan.com or something the next day.

And, a whois lookup confirms that Sony does indeed own ps3.com.

By contast, ps2.com is not owned by Sony, and instead redirects to http://toysandgames.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a...deo_games.html

Which seems to be a 'Yahoo!' company, which would mean they would be able to play ball with Sony in court for a couple of months at least.

Besides, who wants to go to the official PS3 site and tries PS3.net before PS3.com?
