Haahahahaha the new ps3 controller will have motion sensors it so you can use it to controll stuff, like warhark, BUT it wont have rumble in it, they say they cant.
WELL back in 1999 (1999!) they could and did, and in warhark aswell ![]() a video of it in action working fine, and NOW in 2006 (2006!) they cant ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cOBt...anboy%2Ecom%2F HAHahahahaahahahahahaa from http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2006/06...umble-in-1999/ |

I cannot help but laugh at those videos. Odd how a Playstation magazine posted that up about the PS3. Also, I remember playing Motocross Madness with that controller. It was great fun but also very tiring after 20mins or so.

Yeh I smelt a total lie when they said no vibration was because it would effect the motion. It's all down to Sony losing the legal battle over the breech in copyright of the Dual Shock pad. They infringed patents to do with the rumbling. Tut tut!!
Well done that Sony fanboy for digging that pad up!! This is going to make Sony big wigs eat some words.

Because Sony have been complete asshats about the PS3 - Hardcore PS fans I've known for years are now buying or planning to buy a 360. Rumble for me is a huge thing. If the 360 didn't have it i'd slate MS just the same. |

The rumble isn't a massive thing to me, it's like you're indicator not making a clicking noise on your car, not the end of the world. It's not in a companies best interest to announce that they've been sued by another company. The xbox has the rumble which is an appreciated feature but the 360 is certainly not perfect. I could moan at the fact it sounds like a jet engine, but I don't. Or the fact that the LIVE interface is e, but I don't. There's been quite a lot of 360 breakages and returns but it doesn't make it a bad console. There's no doubt the same will happen with the PS3, but it's downfalls will be mentioned whereas xbox's will be ignored. |

hey im with you the 360 noise is terrible, live interface i thinks ok and yes i t breaks a bloody lot.
but its just them saying they cant do it when they can and all the "fanboys" (no, not you mez) are like "yes king playstation gods" Quote:

...I don't think the ninth 'ha' added anything to an 'amusing matter'. I'm all for bashing the PS3, but Mez's point about tone is dead-on.

I care about the future of my health, and my hands; therefore I don't mind if the PS3 does not include a rumble feature. If I have the opportunity to turn off the rumble feature on a game, I do. Arthritis isn't something I would want to live with for the sake of "rumbling" during a game.

well you know what, both of you get a sense of humour, everyone else in the thread found it funny, it was the video i was laughing at, not just the story, it was the way the guy told it from the start

Kubrick: I'm gonna ask you to point me to anything from an even vaguely respectable source that links a rumble feature to arthritis or RSI or just cramps. Particularly if they separated out the effect of playing a game in the first place.
Phat: I'll freely admit that the first 15 seconds of the video brought out a smirk. (Honestly, I find it hard to believe that anyone here actually laughed out loud at it, but if you insist, I'm willing to take that as possible. I'm also eager to chalk that up to perfectly acceptable personal differences.) What I was talking about, and what (I assume) Mez was commenting on, is your original post, phat. Fifteen 'ha's did not add anything to or create a "funny manner". On the other hand, your (1999!) and (2006!) was something approaching humor, and possibly something I would write as well, so don't think I'm commenting on that. (Although Mez probably took issue with that too.) But since you accused me of being the one who needed to tweak his sense of humor, and I beg to differ BTW, I'll further nitpick your post: Sony isn't the 'they' that made the controller in 1999. The controller in the video is a third party peripheral from Pellican, a fact that makes Sony's claim all the more egregious. Perhaps a '(Pellican!)' would have made your post "funny". You mention 'not specifically beneficial', as though this is a nod to the large number of massage vibrators sold in, for example, high-end electronics stores. (Or to sex toys?) And that would lead me to indicate that you aren't suggesting these cause arthritis. And so, I now conclude that you believe it is only the combination of pressure and vibration.
The pressure of pulling a trigger or pressing a button on a game controller is far, far less than one would use to grip the handle and squeeze the trigger of a drill, even when just drilling into drywall, let alone concrete or pavement. In fact, most of the time you'd be tensing your whole arm. While using a jackhammer, you'd do even more- lock and tense your whole arm, in order to support and shift your body weight. This would adding even more pressure to those joints, and, maybe more importantly, to your palms. Go sink a screw into a small piece of wood. See how white your knuckles get. Now pick up your 360 controller, and press A. Or pull the right trigger. Your knuckles won't go white. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. It's not the pressure as you suggest, it's the repetition - example: repetition strain disorder. Are you suggesting that a player turns on his Xbox 360 controller, and presses A once? Apply the logic of accelerating the pressure and multiplying the frequency; thus the state of your hands through use of a controller that rumbles isn't beneficial, and obviating the use of the rumble feature is, to me, is thus obviating extra strain on my hands. You and I can't prove anything, but even scientists can't prove much either: scientific studies could show that it does or doesn't harm, but, then, it's very hard to prove a theory, and easy to disprove one: one observation of fact that contradicts a theory, disproves it; whereas a theory can only be proved to be true through continuous observations that coincide with the theory. As I've said, no source or study, just applying a bit of common-sense, just as I do not need a scientific study to know that jumping off a two-storey will not be beneficial to my state of health. |
