360 vs PS3

Hi, for those of you who havent seen the article (it is quite old) check out this Beyond 3D article on the Xenos (the xbox 360 GPU). It's a bit in depth in parts, but basically we have a bitc*en graphics card on our hands.

There is alot of spin out there and i'm probably not going to help out very much by saying I do believe the PS3 is more powerful than the xbox360... but not by much. The Xenos has some really cool features, and the API for the xbox360 is much easier for developers to use. Because of the complexity of the cell processor, itll be a while before a game comes out on the PS3 that fully takes advantage of its power.

Additionally ive got a funny feeling sony will be inward looking and the console wont be nearly as versatile as the xbox360 (which is strange for a Microsoft product). I'm looking forward to being able to play videos etc from the xbox360, and having custom soundtracks.

Microsofts relative transparency with the xbox360 is also refreshing, we are getting good glimpses of upcoming titles and a good idea of what we the consumer will expect... sony on the other hand.... pre rendered game videos anyone?

MS and Sony have both released their appraisals of the competition, both pointing out which system will do better in which scenario.. but I'm leaning towards the MS camp in thinking that the xbox360 is more powerful for gaming... while the PS3's cell is more powerful for computer farms and massive parallel computing.

Now respond to either debunk me or agree i dont care, im probably not coming back to this forum. I basically came here to shut some PS3 clowns up.

Sony just doesnt have the GRUNT I like in a gaming machine...and that's just it...I want a machine, not a console...a MACHINE! Microsoft are good at making machines whereas sony just like making little consoles...bah! Agree to Disagree!

360 i think will hold up better for gaming.

It had better...or I want my money back...well...I havent spent any money just yet, but you know what I mean! But yes it looks as though the 360 will have some good games made for it...maybe even moreso than the PS3 what with the 360s relatively easy programability which makes games easier to make. This could mean more game developers signing up to make games for the 360 due to less expense in developing the games..which may also mean cheaper games

360! Here I come!

PS3 will be better hands down.

This thread is terrible.

Comparing a console that's about to be released with a console that isn't released for months is futile. One's solid hardware, the other is really just numbers on paper, with no final hardware actually set up yet. We can't compare the two because the latter isn't finalised yet.

Plus what really matters when it comes to comparing consoles? Games matter. We know what's coming on the 360, we have a fair idea as to how it plays, we know the new Live system is going to be excellent, improving the online experience. We know very little about how games on the PS3 will actually play, with no actual gameplay videos, or how well the new controller actually works.

Worse still, comparing them on a site dedicated to one of the choices is only going to lead to a biased results that mean absolutely ----, especially since Sony still have time to improve their console.

Personally, I've preordered my 360, and will indeed be picking it up on launch day, but I'm more than open to owning more than one console, and certainly won't let fanboyism get in the way of owning other consoles if they both have games that appeal to me.

But yeah I've been saying this on every xbox forum for the past couple of months that such a thread will generate a biased opinion. But thena again, this is what microsoft wanted by releasing the 360 earlier than the other consoles: so that people will generate a lot of hype over something which cannot be compared to any other 7th gen consoles, and thus people will buy it...hey it worked for me

Oh and Rohaq seriously... man i love stirring the pot. It's fantastic, what I hate is either side claiming victory, both consoles have their fair share of forseen problems. Pro's and Con's. Both sides are spinning different aspects...

and you are right, I would definately buy a console if it's games appealed to me.. (thats why i actually bought an xbox cause of halo.. i only played PC games before that), but what you are saying is common sense, so why say it... i come here to indulge and speak sh*t... so let me eh?

I don't know if its just me but I can't belive this thread even exists, why join a purly 360 site when you think the PS3 is much better??

Maybe because you still think the 360 is good, just it will never be as good as the PS3. Plus one of the reasons I joined here was to help Steve get this site up and running, plus you never know I will probably end up with a 360 in my house hold, although the space where my PS2 is (in my room) is reserved for the PS3.

You can't compare the 2 consoles because neither are out yet and Sony hasnt released any information on the PS3 aside from a spec sheet simply because of the fact that they arent far along enough yet.Plus a spec sheet from Sony is going to say it's better than the 360,what company WOULDNT say it's better than it's competition?
