SKY Bundle for Xbox360

Saw this on another site and thought i'd post it.





Release: 27th October

The new bundle will include a wireless media remote, a 1 month subscription to Sky Player, and a 3 month Xbox LIVE Gold subscription. This bundle will also be available from October 27. Please note there is no Xbox 360 console in this bundle.

Not even an xbox in there...If they had that, im sure that would get a LOAD of sales

Edit: After thinking about it, i might purchase this, as it has like a 1month SKY thing, plus my Sub will run out sooon :/
I wonder if they will do SKY Redeem Codes ?

The remote's a bit of a waste though as i have that Mini Launch Remote

Meaning it's probably going to be pricey - you can get a similar service for PC / Mac from Sky @ £15 a month.

If you have Sky and want to watch on the Xbox360 at the same time you need a multi-room subscription ( http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/10...player_launch/ ), but it's not clear whether this is just for the Live cast stuff or on-demand too - there's conflicting information about.

According to this article "Xbox 360 owners who already subscribe to a Sky pay TV package will be able to watch on-demand Sky Player content through the console"

But according to this one, "The Web-based Sky Player service sees existing subscribers with multi-room given access to the channels they subscribe to; non-multi-room subscribers having to pay a fee for a Sky Player account;"

I suppose only time will tell!

Sky and Microsoft - two companies who famously give you nothing for nothing.
This will be expensive, and I'm not paying for a multiroom subscription to watch sky content on my 360, when I have a Sky+ HD box in the other room.

can we get pay per veiw on this and im not talking about sports or box office

I don't think that is part of the plans sadly.

well i can get the streaming stuff on my ps3 so no problems

I can't see them charging existing Sky customers, especially for multi-room. You pay that extra 10 quid a month for use of the extra box, not the channels.

If i get round to getting a fixed phone line in my crib then i may consider this package....but that depends on cost over need

Sometimes I do wish that more work would be put into developing and advancing games, which is what the machine is primarily and most commonly used for, than bolting on automatic food-blenders, windscreen wipers and vending machines to the side. Every single piece of kit in the world now has features coming out of their arse but I worry that few of these features are performed as well as they might had the included features not been so diffuse.

TL;DR - More focus on main things, less gimmicky crap.

Fair point - I once stood listening to an assistant in a mobile phone shop for a while whilst he explained how many megapixels the phone had, how many MP3s I could store on it, how good the WiFi connectivity was and I managed to flummux him for a minute by asking: "That's very good, does it have any app on there that allows me to speak to people who are a long way away?"

This gen of consoles aren't content with delivering games it seems, they have to allow me to tweet, or watch movies or update my facebook status.. ..presumably this trend will continue until eventually my console allows me to microwave my lunch, check the weather in Istanbul and get blown simultaneously whilst I complete the campaign in Halo 10.

Me? I'd like to stick games in it and enjoy a couple of hours of escapism. I guess that makes me "weird" in Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo's marketing demographic..

It's the TV's that are the worst. Why the ---- would I want to spend 10 minutes "typing" in a 20 character tweet on my TV from my remote?

Sky is an actual entertainment item, one you use with your TV. Merging the two is just a form of convenience (for some anyway). But yes, Twitter and Facebook, or even a web browser is just extra fluff thats not needed on a games console. Sky is borderline.
