Default Splinter Cell - Presidential Palace Walkthrough

I wrote a walkthrough for this level and thought it might be a good idea to be made sticky so people can see this without having to search for it incase there stuck on this part

Ok, the first part's fairly simple, just jump from ledge to ledge, until you reach the pipe that scales the wall up to a courtyard.

Look around before you pull yourself up onto the ledge, making sure the guards (and especially the dogs) are away from you. Crouch run (and roll) to the right hand side.

Stand up so you can get a decent shot, and when closest dog (the one with the patrolling left hand side guard) stops, kill it with a headshot from your rifle (Use your scope). Do the same for the second dog.

Now, you need to time this exactly right. If you've done everything up to now as fast as I have, I can tell you *exactly* what to do, if you haven't, well, you'll have to try the best you can (And remember to quicksave if you're on PC). Climb over the railing just as the guard walks away (but leave a big enough time-gap so he won't hear you). You should be just at the edge of a wall with some fences between the stone pillars (On the right hand side of the courtyard). Now wait. As the guard walks away the second time, crouch run and ROLL (Don't forget to roll at the end; it's saved my life plenty of times).

Now hide behind part of the hedge until you see the spotlight pass you again, and then enter the middle gap in the next row of hedges. Move along slowly until you encounter a guard, looking away from you. You have to be careful here as there is a guard pacing along the path behind the keypad locked gate, and he'll see you if you grab the guard while he's there. So when the coast is clear, grab the guard, and pull him into the end of the hedge-passageway and KO him and take his satchel.

Now go into the darkness on either side of the fountain. Here you have 2 choices:
1) Kill the guard, unlock the gate and hide his body, or
2) Open the gate when the guard has just left, and crouch run to the tower on the left hand side (Go down the ramp, and through the panel that slides open).

The 2nd option is a lot harder, but means there's a lower possibility of someone finding a dead guard and setting off an alarm. (You also save a round of ammo).

Once you're inside, grab the Medi-Kit on the far wall, and go up the stairs, and grab the 2nd Medi-Kit on the desk to the right.

Go through the door and now go to either the left or right hand side or you can run down the middle for this first bit, but I suggest going down one of the sides, and practicing dealing with the laser beams. You can see the lasers using either your Night-Vision or Thermal.

Essentially, when you touch one, an alarm sounds, so you have to either roll or jump under them. Most are on a timer (e.g. there's 2 lasers, the top one will always stay on, but the bottom one will alternate between on and off).

When you get to the other end, head right for the door, and stay right up against it (I prefer not to put my back to it, since it means you can't see the guards who have just entered).

Wait for a while, and when all guards have walked away from you, pick the lock to the door, go in, and grab the disposable lock-pick.

Head back outside, and when the guards move away, head for the left hand side. Now you need to dodge the lasers and get to the door about half-way down the room. Watch out for the guards, as they frequently walk into the spaces between the sets of lasers.

When you get through the doors, go to the end of the corridor, but don't go up the stairs (*more* lasers). Instead, go into the nearest corner to the staircase (on the left of the radiator (or heater, or whatever you Americans call it). Kick off the wall that the radiator's attached to, and you should grab a slight overhang. Chimmy along until you're passed the lasers, and drop down. Now jump up again, and you'll pull yourself through a gap in the wood panelling stuff.

Now open the door, and immediately go to the right (Make sure you're crouched). There are many ways you can do this part, but I'm just gonna state the way that I find best.

You'll notice how the 2 special forces guards pace up and down. When they get to the far end of the room, snipe the one on the top (up the stairs). Be sure to shoot him through the eye slot in his helmet. Now you've alerted everyone else in the room, but simply tuck yourself into one of the corners of the overhanging bit you're in, and they *should* just come up to the edge, and dismis the noise. Now for the trickier bit. When the remaining guard comes towards you and looks down the stairs move yourself closer to him, but remain in the darkness. When he moves away, follow him. Keep up with him, but don't move in a crouched run, just slightly slower. As soon as you get close enough to grab him, do it. Take him to the dark corner under the stairs and KO him. Take the satchel. Now go get the body of the dead guard that's above you and put him in the same place. Take his satchel as well. Now move to the door on the top level. Use your optic cable to make sure it's clear before you open the door.

Ok, now to make it easier, I suggest shooting out the light in this next part (use your pistol, don't waste precious rifle ammo) but do it when the SF guards are at the other end of the corridor. Keep out the way when the two normal guards come looking, and after they go back to their normal patrols, move ahead. For the next part, only move through light areas when the SF guards are moving away from you. And when they walk past you, stay on the carpet in the center. The right hand guard will always pass you before the left hand one, so move slightly to the left, and then back over to the right.

The left hand SF guard keeps looking down a short corridor. This one has a bullet-proof camera in it, but it's easy enough to get past it (go around it when it's looking the opposite way (e.g. go to the right side when it's looking left and vice versa).

Now manually pick this lock (don't worry, no one will see you, even if the guard is looking directly at you) and go through. You'll see even more of the lasers, and this part is best past by crouch-running or by rolling (I prefer rolling, higher probability that you'll get through). Once in the corner, there's 4 in a verticle row. The middle 2 flash on and off, so your best bet is to jump through when they're off.

As soon as you get through, make your way slowly behind the far book shelf, as a guard will enter the room. He'll turn on the lights, but so long as you're quiet, he should just look out of the windows, offering his back. Grab him, and KO him near the bookshelfs (where you were just hiding). Turn off the lights, and use the laptop.

Now go through the door that the guard came through, and grab the MediKit on the desk. Now leave the office the same way that you came in (past the lasers).

Again, avoid the camera, and wait until you *know* the guards have gone to right, back down the hallway. Go left, and there should be another guard, but as long as you stick to the left hand wall he won't know you're there.

Now just go left through all the doors.

After the loading screen you'll be in a hallway with some dead palace guards... kinda eerie... Anyway, open up the keypad lock [See: Library doorcode in Notes]. Now comes a tricky bit. You can sneak past them, but as you're using this walkthrough, it's probably gonna be a bit too hard, so I'll tell you the easier way.

You'll see 3 guards surrounding an elevator. One is on the right hand side, standing still, looking at a door. The other 2 are circling the elevator. The best way is to shoot out the light just behind the pillar between you and the elevator. A guard will come to investigate, so get behind him and KO him. The easiest thing to do next is to take out the other patrolling guard, as he'll normally spot you if you try to grab the stationary one. So simply grab him when he comes near you, and KO him. The stationary guard is now a sitting duck, with no one guarding his back, so KO him. Now hide all the bodies in a dark corner somewhere.

Ok, before you use the elevator, I've got to warn you, the next bit is *hard*, so listen carefully to what I say.

Take the elevator down, and you'll hear on the radio that they know where you are, and they're waiting for you in the Library, so as soon as you possible can, jump out of the elevator, and head towards the back of the Library, and go to the right. You should be hiding behind a book shelf. Immediately equip your rifle and look up to the catwalk across from your position. A SF guard will appear, so snipe him. Now go full auto and spray the face of the guard that comes round infront of you, and then do the same to his buddy who goes away from you, and then turns around. Reload, use MediKits to heal what health you've lost, and regain your composure. There'll be a guard left on the stairs, who you'll be able to see through gaps in the books.

Go round the bodies and take the satchels. You can hide the bodies if you want, but they'll all be taken away later.

Now go down either of the entrances near the stairs, into the basement. You'll see Nikoladze at the laptop at the end of the room, but he's helpless, so you can either rush him and grab him, or sneak up on him (which seems to frighten him).

I look forward to seeing you do some walk-through's for SCDA when it comes out though.

Thanks, I'm glad your looking foward to seeing some of my future walkthroughs. I also played SC1 on the 360 and wrote a review the other day to see how it compares to running on the Xbox 1. I might aswell post it here.

I didn't really think it would make it much better, but WOW! Crisper graphics, brighter colors and the controller is a bit more sensitive so that's an adjustment. Not to mention that the "black and white" buttons are now both white "shoulder" buttons similar to the PS2 L1/R1 buttons.

On to the gameplay:

Pro: As above, better graphics all around, quicker controller response.

Con: Occasional jerky motion/hesitation causing a slight pause in motion and/or audio (words during cutscenes get echoed like a vinyl record player skipping). So far it hasn't happened at a critical point that caused mission failure, but I haven't played all the levels yet.

Also, don't screw anything up like when downloading content. I connected the play and charge cable while a download was in progress and pop! It said the download failed, but it showed completed. Of course it was corrupted, so I went into the "Xbox Panel" to delete it and guess what - you gotta delete the whole thing and start over from scratch - including your profile. You can't remove individual content like you could on the old box. I had already played half of the levels and had to start over because of it.

One other thing, if you've got the mission pack you can't install them from there (from the OXM disk), you've got to get them from XBLive.

"Vselka Infiltration" was renamed to "Vselka Part One". I don't know if anything else changed has changed those yet. I'll keep you updated.
