After playing both demos ill have to go with forza 3, i just like the way it plays better, and as you say youve got all the customisation, decals n stuff in it aswell. Plus in forza 2 i used to love the auction house.

Forza. Shift is fairly Shift without the F. If you get what I'm saying.

Forza hands down, that is if you want to keep your car on the track most of the time.

Forza 3...but I would say that, because I'm a Forza junkie.
Never really liked the NFS series, apart from Underground 2. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |

Forza 3 hands down.
I finished all but the "get every race/drift event star" off-line achievement in 8 days and I'm no wiz at games. Shift has many bugs and glitches, sadly I encountered nearly all of them. Issues range from mislabelled understeer/oversteer slider in quick tune, near uncontrollable bouncing cars (i.e. Porsche Carerra GT invitational race at Spa), cars loading with no transmissions and won't leave the start line, works cars such as the LP640 Lamborghini that won't exceed 140 mph unless the downforce is set to zero and other cars with works upgrades that aren't recognised unless you restart the race and when they are recognised, your care will have super short gears. Then there is the horrid frame rate slowdowns when entering the back straight of Road Atlanta, Zonda vs Veyron race where the Veyron is named the Pagani Veyron by Mr Voiceover man..the list goes on and on. EA/SMS have yet to fix any of the 360 glitches, I traded Shift in for Batman, a decision I've yet to regret. Kudos too for Console Monster being one of the few reviews I've read that criticises the frankly horrid oversteer set-up for the standard controller. Cheers. |

We're here to help and advise you. It wasn't an awful game, but it just wasn't amazing either. And the controls are damn right ----ty by default. Can't say I noticed too many other bugs, but there are frustations but I still felt it was a polished game for a NFS title.

Whilst I agree that Shift is not awful, Shift does comes with many issues, most of which I've listed above. Any potential purchaser of the game should know what others have encountered while playing the game.
FWIW, I loved tier one and two, these were great fun. My feelings towards the game changed once tier three was under way and tier four further solidified my feelings. Further, VVV Gamer played alpha and beta versions of Shift and noted the handling model had been re-written for the final release, which may explain some of the very strange handling issues. I agreed with your review and final score, hence my joining the forums. Cheers. |

Thanks TJP, appreciate the feedback. Interesting they changed the handling model. I have to say the final championship took the mick a bit, the AI were ramming me off on the final corners and it wasn't that fun.

I'll be getting Forza here. Forza is established in what it does but NFS has been "drifting" around the racing-game sub genres like tumbleweed on an imagined-salt-flat-racecourse that should be made.

Well after playing Forza 3 for a few hours hands down it owns Need For Speed Shift big time the raceing is better take assists off apart from traction control = more dollar and faster driveing visually better than NFS Shify.
Oh and another thing i noticed if you have all assists on the cars they do not make mistakes if you take them off like i said above they will make some weird mistakes by going wide on corners the one thing tho that i dont like is the rewind cam makes the game easy and should never of been put in the game. |

Only gripe I have with Forza is the cockpit view isnt as good as NFSS and PGR's etc....you don't have any control to move around whilst in side and its at a high fix point.

No wonder people voted 100% for Forza, EA/SMS are just getting their collective fingers out to release a patch for Shift, some 2 months after the dogs breakfast was released.
