Should it stay or should it go?

Ive had a PS3 at my house for nearly two weeks. Its still in the box and unused. I bought it cheap and have been trying to sell it.

As pay day approaches imn considering keeping it as i got it so cheap.

My questions are.

1. Is it really worth keeping at £300 for the console plus game?
2. Whats THE game to get for the PS3 this year (doesnt have to be out yet)?
3. Has anyone heard anything about the online system improving?
4. What are people own experiences with their PS3 since getting it?
5. Does your 360 still get more use?

Truthfully i loved mine...for about two weeks.

Its sat there for the past month not even being turned on , ive sold all but one of my games on ebay because they are a bit tosh , and i se nothing on the horizon that really grabs my interest.

Ive flirted with the idea of outing it , as im struggling to see a reason to keep it. The 360 is still doing everything i want , the games line up for the rest of the year is awesome and the online actually works.

Whereas the PS3 online is a complete and utter joke , and with the loss of all the exclusives there's nothing really left. MGS4 ? nah not for me , beeen there done that and it doesnt look anything special at all , Garn Turismo HD ? Nah , Forza will kill that , err Home ? Fun for 30 mins i reckon , Little Big Planet......looks good , but not really my bag.

So its just a cheap Bluray player for me at the mo......

I think you should keep it...if only for the fact that at some point you may regret selling it.

It will get better when more games are about, there will improvements to PSN..so it will be worth it further down the line. Right now...it's no match for the 360 at all. The big draw for the 360 is just popping a game in, within seconds big dossing around with mates and having a laugh...the PS3 can't really match that just yet.

If you spend every spare minute on the 360 then get rid of it....that's why i got rid of my 'spare' 360..knowing fine well its not a good idea to have 2 major machines.

There are great games out for the ps3 now - the likes of Virtua Fighter 5, Motorstorm (even better when more content and game modes come via 1.2 update), Res FOM hell even Full Auto 2 is a blast. Online is weak compared to xbox live but you get what you are pay for - i don't mind the psn at all and the layout is far easier than xbox live. Then we have Home due September - see the latest video i included in a thread, this will totally upgrade the psn to include area's to visit developers sites and what not and its still free. The Home idea doesnt greatly appeal to me nor am i going to say its the best thing ever but if it's there then its worth a look.

Games well there are loads in development and due soon are Lair, Heavenly Sword and most of the games that are coming to the 360 aswell (gone are the days of exclusives - and Sony don't need to buy the game studio's to secure games for the console unlike MS buying everyone that decides to make a game for them)and on the psn (PAL) we should have old psone games, the likes inc Wipeout and Destruction Derby to download to your HDD for a few pounds - very very soon (fingers crossed today)

Decision made, im selling it for these reasons.

1. Had 6 mates round saturday and all 6 wanted to play 360 not PS3.
2. No football game on the PS3, so the 360 will be staying.
3. No one could tell me THE game coming out on it, so there isnt one.asked this of a 360 4 or 5 games would be mentioned)
4. Online sounds terrible and i spend most of my time online in games.
5. Home, Little big planet and all that japanese tripe doesnt interest me at all, if this is the way the PS3 is going i dont think it is for me.
6. PSone games and PStwo games are nice, but they could put online modes in or improve them a bit, liek 360 arcade games.
7. Lens says "gone are the days of exclusives". But Halo3, Mass Effect, Gears of War 2 and more are 360 exclusive. PS3 has MGS4.
8. No one has made a good arguement to keep it, on here, other places or my mates.

well i was considering getting rid of my ps3 because i played it untill i finished resistance and aint had it on much after that but i decided not too because ill be getting the games that are coming out later in the year

socom and warhawk are downloadable games a look good online

then theirs lair, mgs4, heavenly sword so ill get my moneys worth out of it not now but in the future

Well even before you asked for people's responses in fairness you alreadly made you mind up.

I have never been a massive Sony fan - just the ps3 appeals to me more than the 360. I was and will never be a pc gamer - the 360 to me just feels like one - yep the ps3 hasn't a good online - but that's why i bought it. Xbox live is all good and nice but since i stopped it all i have my own new business - a new lass (play with her more) and a longer social life now. Games don't interest me as much now, so when i get on my ps3 i enjoy it, rather than spending hours in lobbies waiting for some daft ---- to ready up lol or to swing spiderman that futher foot than anyone else in the world

Yep the 360 may have a few more killer exclusives at this present time -but only because MS have bought the studios or the rights to the game/developers. Yes Sony have their studios too but the 3rd party support coming up is just as good if not better than the 360. Bioware are also developing a title as we speak only for the ps3 as its use of next gen DVD format is what they crave for (and wish Mass Effect could use!) i bet they wish they never signed an exclusive deal with MS for this now as they are having nightmares squeezing it on to a standard DVD.

Lost Planet isnt Japanese either - its British as is Heavenly Sword - both young and could say indie developers that Sony have thrown their cash to - but there are loads of Japanese companies designing games that will never see the light over here - but wait you can buy them - all games are region free.

Then we have the downloadble eDI games which aren't run of the mill Mame games redone in HD (don't make me laugh) and 200 points added. These are full games and make use of the sixaxis. Then we have psone games (due in UK store soon) - the likes of Wipeout in 1080p - with online play? - or what about Destruction Derby or Spyhon Filter all at present at $5.99. Then we have downloadble PS3 games - the likes of GT5 prologue - or even Warhawk. Socom was the first ala GRAW - and it still has a huge Netplay following

I don't care what anyone say's - i prefer the sony XMB to the blades on the 360 - fair enough i ain't seen the new MSN version - but one MSN is more than enough for me - see more pc connections - and before people say ''the ps3 is more of a pc than the 360'' then yes but you don't need to use any of them i don't.

Should i re-buy a 3rd 360 (will then be my 7th)....hmm now that's a ?

Wipeout is in development (PS3 game) and Tekken 6 is due by the end of the year - but Wipeout and Tekken 2 can be bought as a psp or ps3 game in the US store ($5.99)- im hoping they will arrive here soon which could be the 23rd of may as that is when the prices all change for the current eDI games the likes of Tekken 5 DR, Super-Rub-A-Dub etc. The last update (1.70) included the likes to be able to play psone games on a ps3 and not just psp - this update was for UK aswell.

With regards to the japanese store - well they get it all. The likes of rare psone titles due is policenaughts (Hideo Kojima) and all of the Final Fantasy's...im sure we will see some eventually.

So yep Tekken is on the US store and im sure it will come here

Im not interested in Downloading PS1 or PS2 games, i played them years ago.

Final Fantasy is my least favourite game ever, so i wont be getting that.

With regards to Sony's PR- i'd do it for cash - but i agree with Motorstorm - it looks great but as i said to MJ aswell its just missing something - hopefully update 1.2 will do it justice. Res FOM is good, looks better than most FPS's -Manchester esp and online is frantic when there's 40 people playing lag free. But i disagree saying they aren't good at the moment - it depends on the games. VF5 and VT3 look better than most things ive seen on a 360 - infact they pull the 360's pants down and spank its arse - could even suck it off for good measures. Oblivion looks better - if only i had the time to play it again but i will tell you what surprised me! - Full Auto 2 - it looks fantastic - nothing like the demo on US PSN. Only gripe is those stupidly hard Twisted Metal Black style levels -why..just keep it as a racer!

No ps2 games at 1080p (maybe at a later date) but the rest of the eDI games are either 720p, 1080i or 1080p. Tekken 5 DR is sometimes on par with the detailed VF5. I'm looking forward to WipeOut so much and the rest when they hit the store - come on Sony pull your finger out!
