Finnish Magazine Pelaaja has leaked the first details on the next Splinter Cell game called Splinter Cell: Conviction. The game is currently console exclusive to Xbox 360, as was stated a while back.
The game is said to take place in daylight for the majority of the game. Sam Fisher finds out that Anna Grimsdottir (Intelligence gatherer for the Third Echelon) is in some sort of danger, so Sam rejoins 3E to help. However, 3E is not the organisation it used to be and Sam is provided with incomplete or bad intel along with the wrong equipment for his missions.
To make matters worse, the 3E bosses are in a political power struggle to gain control of 3E. Sam eventually finds out the threat to Grimsdottir comes from within 3E. Sam leaves 3E and effectively becomes a fugitive, but unlike Double Agent, this time it's for real.
Since the game is in broad daylight, Sam will have to use another form of cover to avoid being caught, namely, people. Much like fellow Ubisoft game Assassins Creed, Sam will need to blend in with people to survive.
Ubisoft's UbiDays event in Paris is just three weeks away. Expect some solid new details on Splinter Cell: Conviction during the 23rd and 24th of May

Apparently Ubisoft have gotten rid of the sneaking style and made it more like hitman! I'm not sure what to think of this

Nope he was on the run.
*SPOILER*
At the end, after Fisher defuses the Bomb in JBA HQ and the soliders rapel through the roof, they think that Fisher is a terrorist, so the police are after him. During his time in JBA Sam was only under Non Official Cover. This means only a few select people knew he was undercover(Lambert, Grimsdoitor) where as the others, such as the head of the NSA have no idea, so basically the police, NSA, FBI etc, think that Sam has actually become a terrorist and are after him
Man i look too much into the games haha

Yeah I knew that :s
Carverboys right.

This sounds more interesting to me, it's the only way they could have gone with it IMO. I doubt it'll be more like hitman tbh because you'll have to be stealth to do certain missions like break into the NSA?
I just found these few quotes:
- No more sneaking around in the shadows. Apparently you're going to be more like James Bond and infiltrate buildings in plain daylight. You won't have to use force or sneak around as long as you don't act suspiciously.
- According to the article, every single object that is rendered on screen has physical properties and most of them can be used by Sam. For example, Sam can pick up furniture and use it as a weapon, or throw printers at enemies or papers in the face of enemies to gain the upperhand in fights.
- Melee fights are much more than "press this button to hit" this time around. There's different context sensitive attack buttons and as mentioned before lots of environmental interaction.
I'm really interested in the whole using furniture as weapons. Should be fun.

Sam looks cool with a little scruff.
And his "Man"bag :D
---------------
Should be good. I'd still like there to be a bit of sneaking about though. You can't beat shooting out a few lights.
Something i've noticed about the splintercell series
SC1 = AMAZING
SC2 Pandora Tomorrow = OK
SC Chaos Theory = AMAZING
SC4 Double Agent = OK
Now this one should be very good. I'm about 80% certain that the 1 and 3 were made by a different Brach of Ubisoft then 2 and 4.

I can adapt to a new style of espionage, sometimes change is good but not always. I hope they have online co-op missions like there was in Chaos Theory they were awesome but a little short. I'll be keeping an eye on the development of this game.

Not sure why they say it can't be translated, they didn't say it couldn't be made though.

- Some pretty negative comments about the PS3 made by the devs. They state the fact that they are exclusive to the 360 allows them to do much more than if they were multiplatform, but they also state they doubt they would be able to achieve what they're doing with the game on the 360 on the ps3 even if it was ps3 exclusive.
that is from that source i gave.

I've added this to the thread which was already created cazbhoy and that video looks good. I think the environment is a little too dark but the fact that you can use the environment objects to interact with is really a nice touch.

just seen the video, wow, i cant wait for this. i think its good that they have decided to re-invent the franchise, and give the gamers a different experience, even more so than double agent. should be a good 1
Hmmm.. After watching this video, I'm not too sure on whether it'll work out or not. It reminds me of a game I've played before.

As far as I know guys this sequence is true. both 1 and 3 were made by the Montreal studio and guess who's making 5? Thats right! Ubisoft Montreal.
Also i watched the footage from the Ubi Days conference and they gave a little demo of the game and the physics in it look great. In one part they pushed over a bookshelf to block a door, then threw a computer monitor through the window. They also demonstrated the distractions etc.
It looks awesome!
