My friends 360 has broken on him, it isnt reading discs. He has offered it to me for £40, so basically its a premium console with a disc reading problem, ive seen places where I can pick up a replacement laser for about £15.
So do I either get a replacement laser and fix it myself and keep it for my brother.
Or split the hardrive and sell it on ebay then sell the faulty console on ebay too thus making a profit!

Yea if you know how to fix it, then fix it and sell it and you'll make a profit
Or simply sell the parts as there are people who do value the spare parts of the system.

Yea the power cable will fetch a pretty price on Ebay, as there are people out there looking for it especially for those who have imported consoles from the US or Asia for example.

Well I would have thought a good friend would have offered to help and fix it but its apparent that he isn't that good a friend of yours from what you wrote.

His friend's selling him a premium 360 for £40 which he can get fixed for £15. I thought that was pretty generous. It also comes with a hdd.

Well I would like to fix it , if of course it just the laser being crap, and sell it on or let my younger brother have it so he isnt hogging my 360 everytime i come home from work.

Cheap Repair Here (http://www.gtelectronics.co.uk/xbox360.htm)
I know a few people who have had their repairs done here and have nothing but good thinks to say to them. Might be easier than trying to fix it yourself.

No, no Fleebs I meant if he was like a close friend to Mr Hyde then Mr Hyde could have offered to help him fix it since he says he knows how and it shouldn't cost that much. But the answer I kind of expected is quoted below. The guy is more of a work acquaintance than anything else.

If you can get it then for that then (Y).

To keep you guys updated I just picked up the £40 console with all the gear.
So i plug everything in chuck in halo 2 and it works first time!
But im going to set it up in my brothers room to see if over a few days heavy abuse it starts messing up. But so far so good, 1 level in too halo and all is well.
