View Full Version : Bad news for UK Guitar Hero II fans looking for that extra controller

Just had this response from Activision Support regarding being able to purchase an additional X-plorer controller in the UK. Looks like eBay or buying a second copy of the game will be the only way to get hold of an extra controller in the UK (which, when you consider that the Red Octane site is selling them - but only shipping to the US, is pretty shoddy)

Unbelievable. How pathetic of them. I dont want to fork out £65 for another guitar, this is stupid.

Oh, don't worry I have submitted a reply pointing out that the UK consumer is being given the sh1tty end of the stick on this, as well as informing them that I'd be posting their response on XBox forums.

Quite why they cannot import a few controllers is quite beyond my understanding.. asking us to fork out twice beggars belief to be frank (although if you look at the number of "game only" Guitar Hero II auctions on eBay, clearly quite a few folks have already gone down this route).

That is stupid, why have a 2 player game that you cannot purchase a extra peripheral for it. I think you can get them from the USA though.

Indeed.. which is why I was so annoyed at Activision's response.
If anyone is looking for an additional controller and don't want to be fleeced by eBay, I can tell you that eBGames (http://www.EBGames.com) will sell you a controller and ship it to the UK ($59.99 + $15.99 shipping which won't be too bad if the pound remains strong against the dollar). However they're not getting delivery of stock until 1st June. I'm awaiting one of these.. (unless I find a cheaper/faster alternative in the meantime)

Unbelievably RedOctane do have them in stock, but will only ship to US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Most of the other US stores (Walmart, Circuit City, etc) either didn't sell the controller separately (online at least) or wouldn't ship Internationally.

I'll keep you posted..

eBay is hilarious these days. Price is irrelevent to these people, it's all about winning the auction. It's a sellers paradise.

It can happen though can't it?
You know, you get a bit carried away with all the excitement.. not to mention all those emails from eBay:"Bid Now!" "Don't let this item get away!" "Bid again or we bludgeon the kitten!"

Still 93 quid for a second hand copy.
What.. a.. tool

Yeah eBay should really change their advertising slogan to be..
"Because there's one born every minute"
