Sony Corp. said on Tuesday it is considering launching PlayStation 3 (PS3) game consoles with larger hard disk drive capacity, in a bid to cater to the needs of hardcore gamers and other heavy users.

Quite surprised if this turns out to be true since 60 GB is a decent amount for a HDD. But with Microsoft releasing the Elite soon with a 120 GB HDD I think that Sony may have something planned in the pipeline. Currently I'm happy enough with what I have so whether I'd "upgrade" remains to be seen. Plus there is the how much would it cost factor too.

What's the point when you can just swap out your HDD anyway?

If anything at all gets added to the console cost it'll make it look an even worse deal to the average consumer.

Yep and you dont void your warranty - my clever mate is knocking his up to 250GB when he puts Linux onto it - so he can run some emulators and create stuff apparently

Thats a nice function of the ps3 - but one i'll prob never touch
