Yeah so i need a new phone cos the one i have atm is buggered. I'd like one that has a decent camera, mp3 player, video recording/playback and all the other normal things.

i was looking at the samsung D900 (https://shop.o2.co.uk/phone/Samsung/D900_Chrome) but im not totally convinced, can anyone tell me if its any good or recommend me a different phone?

i have a D900, and its a brilliant phone.

On choosing a phone you need to figure out which bit is most important to you.

Most phones are biased towards one feature, music, camera or style usually. which one is most important to you should help you find a handset.

I think im gona get a D900, my parents said i can get it, and it does like a decent phone that would suit me.

Its a top phone, only thing that annoy me is that you cant use your own message tone, (i use vibrate only mode)

The themes is really cool, it changes the picture dependant on the country you are in, and changes day to night. Sets off fireworks or a skywriter if you get a call or msg.

k tht wont bother me too much, as long as its not a doorbell noise like on my old O2 X3, man tht was annoying

I got a D900 as my upgrade a couple of months back but I still use my D600e. I've heard of people having problems with the D900s screen cracking due to the top half of the slide being so thin.

Also the 4,7,9 and "select" buttons on mine are a bit dodgy and don't always work...but I blame this on me falling on it or something when I was out on the piss :$

All in all it's a nice enough phone although I found it slightly on the large side - although it is very thin - with plenty of features and a top notch camera. And as Truplaya83 said the lack of setting an MP3 track as a text ringtone is feature that Samsung really need to start having on their phones.

I believe the memory isn't too good on the D900 and purchasing memory cards for them can be expensive. I agree with scottyboy, a phone should allow you to set your own ringtone.

Think the internal memory is 80MB or there abouts. I use a 512MB MicroSD (Transflash) card with mine. Cost me £25 or something but that was about 18 months ago.

Buy a temporary crappy phone to keep you going until the Apple IPhone is out. :)

I prefer the N73 from the N series. Or like Russ said, you could wait for the IPhone :)

I am using a D600. Its ----in quality. Great resolution screen, video etc. If you know how to compress music then you can fit 60 odd songs onto the 80mb memory. Or even buy a 2 gig card from play which i am waiting on. Its at an affordable price too and isnt that prone to damage, I have dropped it a few times and its came a damage free.

Cant go far wrong with it.

I have just got the new Nokia N95, it is amazing there has been another post on here all about it. It has a 5mp camera and comes with a 160mb internal memory and you can get up to a 2gb card for it which i picked up for £20.

It has seperate music controls and takes normal headphones so you can use any with it.

it is a bit expensive at the moment because it is the new model out, the N70 or any of the N series are all good phones.

As Joe said, the iPhone is not interesting, except for the UI. It is technologically worse than a D900 (D900 has memory card slot, better camera and is a LOT smaller).

The iPhone is a PDA size phone with no PDA functionality. Get the prada phone if you wanna look good and forget the iPhone.

I would seriously look at the K800i too, its the only phone i might be tempted to swap my D900 for.

I was looking at the K800i, my brother and one of my mates has it. But I'm going to stick with the D900. Going to town to get it now.

EDIT: dw ive done it now :D

EDIT again: actually i havent, i got them onto the phone but when i click play it says unsupported file format. :(

Great phone, 2mp camera, has one camera on the front for video calling and one on the back, holds around 100 songs plus it can hold a memory card, 3g, great screen and it has a spinny thing like the i-pod !
I've got a contract one of it and its .. £15 a month for 600 texts and 100 mins or somthing.

But my mate has the D900 and its amazing :).

You will probably nned to encode the video to the correct format for your phone, it should say somewhere in the manual, or about the internet what format you need.

Just do what I did with Orange. Called them up and told them I was thinking about cancelling my contact and asked them what they could do to try and keep me! Ended up getting the same minutes and messages but 25+% cheaper/month and a free upgrade to a D900.

Threatening to cancel using a companys service can work a treat, especially in a market as competitive as mobile phone services. I never had any intention of leaving them by the way.
