Lord of the Rings will be released on both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD on Nov 23rd...
BUT Blu-Ray's getting a special edition DVD, HD-DVD will only get the theatrical edition!
The News:
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy will be released on both Blu-ray and HD-DVD on November 23, 2007.
Here is the interesting part:
As a gesture of good faith over the Matrix release, New Line/WB will be releasing only the Extended Editions on Blu-ray at this time, while HD-DVD will get only the Theatrical Versions.
The Blu-ray version will be on a BD50 in VC-1 with PCM!! It will also showcase a lot of the neat features of BD-J.

BD50? Is that 50GB?
Anyway the problem I saw is that alot of the special features on these HD DVD and Blu-Ray Films are in 480p instead of 1080p which is slightly disappointing not sure if this applies to this version though.
Is this the future we've been waiting for?
We go out to buy a movie and we come home with 50gb on a box?

who gives a ----??? if i was really bothered about sitting through LoTR AGAIN i would just watch the ones i have already. as if you hadnt guessed, im not really a LoTR fan.

first: it was who gives a ---- if Bluray gets S.E and HD DVD doesnt,
and secondly:
how can ther possibly be any more special features??? they said in the special editions i have that this was all the 'special features' available, and now they have 'found' more??? the -------s are just cash grabbing, but hey I still wouldn't mind it if im honest

what the ----, seriously this is the PS3 section, thats Playstation3 and you'd never guess but the PS3 has Blu-Ray in it so if theres something Blu-Ray related im going to make a thread in the PS3 General section
what were not allowed to post anything Blu-Ray related in the PS3 section,
and hell theres dozens of 'useless' threads in the 360 forum so why dont you ---- of over there and start complaining

Seriously. He made a thread. If you don't care about LOTR or BD movies, you don't need to read. He didn't even slam HD-DVD. Lay off, Tomshi. Throwing a smiley at the end of your post doesn't make you less of a ----.

I've just read the thread and all I can see is a post informing us that blu-ray is going to get more on their version than HD Dvd is, nothing more nothing less. Nothing about trying to convince anyone that blu-ray is a better format than HD Dvd. Thats a debate for another day and only time will tell in the format war :).
I however, am a fan of the LOTR trilogy and as of yet I haven't picked up any blu-ray dvds and this does appeal to me. I know that the prices aren't cheap so we'll have to see whether I get this or not as I currently own the LOTR trilogy on dvd.

no i didn't realise that one of our members would think that it was a rip on HDDVD
oh and I didn't think that I was the only LOTR fan on the board
oh and I didn't THINK that I would get some half-witted response from you about how I was trying to make Blu-Ray look like the 'shiz'
and seriously I DID NOT EXPECT IT TO TURN INTO AN ARGUMENT but obviously YOU couldn't take something PS3 related not turning into an argument and so had to come in and swear a little bit here and there, call the thread 'useless' and then add a smiley face to make things all right again...
