How do I cancel Gold?

My 360's died again (3 red lights), and my subscription re-news itself at the start of next month.

I've decided that I will not re-new it, and go silver instead. My question is, how do I do this? I cannot do it from my 360 if that's possible because it's dead. I've tried www.xbox.com and when I click the "cancel my account" from the billing page the pop up on the right doesn't load (in IE or Mozilla).

So is there any other way to do it?

when you cancel it's like trying to break INTO a bank... a million questions... why do you want to end your subcription? ... do you know you'll lose all your achievements? and so forth... i ended my 18 yr old son's account since he went to the marines and i had to actually yell at the guy that i didn't give a ---- about his achievements since it wasn't mine and i wasn't paying for 4 years of live for him if he's not really going to use it!

yet when you have a problem they sure as hell know how to keep tight lipped.

lol! I don't want to cancel it completely, just stop them from charging me the renewal fee when the time comes and downgrade it to silver.

If your achievements go, that's a bit lame. But I don't care much about them anyway.

You can do it without losing your achievements, my dad did it for me the other day and I still have all my gamerscore and achievements.

It's a pain in the arse but you have to ring up and tell them in person, they ask a few questions which is a nuisance but then it's done.

How do I find the number to ring and cancel if I live in the UK?

it's just the customer care number isnt it? it should be on any 360 merchandise you have, or its available on xbox.com
